From the week of July 1 - 7, 2007
Last Week's Distance: 57.17 kms
Last Week's Time: 5:23:47
I predicted: 58 kms
This Week's Distance 60.08 km
This Week's Time 5:27:36
I not only made my distance this week but my average time and pace was faster than last week. If you notice, with an added 3 kms, I only ran less than 4 minutes more.
Running in BC last week was absolutely spectacular. This week, however, was memorable as well, thanks to my broken down body. My arthritis was acting up this week and my left knee was quite sore. I found myself walking like George Jefferson at times, with that movin' on up attitude. I turned the pain into some serious swagger though.
I'm addicted to running! The ones that really know me are saying "duh, pretty obvious." But here's the issue, when I run, I feel so great. But when I don't run, I just don't feel right. I do take breaks, 1 day a week or 2 at the most. This week was challenging, because, if I was smart, I should have taken 3 days off due to my sore knee. Instead, I popped some advil then ended up running on Friday and Saturday to make my goal of 58 km. Something I wouldn't advise doing all the time because the advil just masks the pain, and when the pain killer wares off, the pain could be even worse.
Argh! I'm forcing myself to take the day off and possibly more this week, I know my knee needs a break. I have to take it easy this week or else possibly get injured.
My Goal for next week: 40 kms.
I'm off to Waskaganish today, back home on July 15. Typically in the small communities I don't run as much due to lack of roads and trails, so this should be a nice break.
Stay tuned to the blog, I'll make some posts from my week up north.
