Adventures of Brothers Wesley

Bright and early this morning when the world was sleeping my brother Curtis and I ventured north on the winter road from Moosonee to Attawapiskat. We drove 83 kms to Halfway point, when we experienced something that we have never seen before.

Here is the winter road at about 7:30 this morning.

We saw a bunch of foxes, and although the are rabid beasts they are so cute. They are quite tame, they will walk close to your vehicle waiting for a treat. The pelts are not worth much in todays market, about $40 according to Curt, so people leave them alone and fatten them up for when they are worth a little bit more.

I was so impressed to see this sight, a little stunned actually. A trail was cut through the bush from the winter road all the way to the shores of James Bay. I have seen the bay before, but never from the vantage point of a vehicle.
Then we saw some animal tracks and our cree instincts kicked in. HARD!
Here is my brother Curt praticing his traditional rights. If you look closely, you will notice a partridge in the tree.
It's been such a long time since I have gone hunting, so it was nice to get a couple.
Then we plucked them.
Now I'm just waiting for the best part, dinner.

Thank you Curt for letting me tag along.
