Training Resumed

I've been wanting to see this movie since I saw the commercials and I can totally relate to the title. This movie has come at the perfect time, because I have completely fallen off the running wagon. It's been a whopping 3 months since I last Run Fatboy Run and boy can I noticed some big time physical changes. Like Simon Pegg in this movie, I will Run Fatboy Run to get back into shape.

I wasn't expecting much to be honest, I thought I would Run Fatboy Run for a few Kms and Run Fatboy Run of out of petroleum (gas). But my Run Fatboy Run was awesome, I ran a respectable 7kms without stopping at a comfortable pace.

So now it's time to Run Fatboy Run after that wagon and climb back on, stay tuned for updates.

Marathon anyone?

Dragon Day!!

Today's my birthday, and I'm celebrating in a truly unique way. Right at this moment, I am sitting alone in a hotel room in Massey, Ontario. Since my birthday is at the end of the month of March, I am never home, I am usually on the road somewhere working. And since I love what I do, every year is always special.

One of the things I love to do every year is not wait for anyone during my day and have no expectations. I do it all myself. I find people wait for others to celebrate them, and if people forget, they walk around and sulk all day. I don't accept gifts during my birthday, a true gift is celebrating others by giving and finding anyway you can to demonstrate your love and friendship.

It's my day so I take control. I plan out my own events, I would rather buy gifts for everyone who attends my birthday bash. Rather than wait to get celebrated, I'm doing all the celebrating.

I also want to say happy birthday to my loving parents. It's their birthday too, for 35 years ago, they gave birth to me. Thank you mom and dad for bringing me into this world, I do what I do to make you proud. I love you both so much.

Youth Business Quest, Attawapiskat Edition

15 KIDS!! A New Wakengun Youth Business Quest World Record.

It was great to be back in Attawapiskat, at least half of the participants were old trainees of mine from previous training held in December.

It's always an honour to train in the Reg Louttit Sportsplex. Uncle Reg was my late uncle, he worked for many years fundraising and acquiring funding for this impressive facility. His # 16 Jersey hangs from the rafters as a constant reminder of his tireless work to help the community.
Willie and Tesla are presenting their business idea to the group. Club 143, a pool hall and restuarant.
Hardcore trainer, Attwapiskat edition.
Just call me Hugh Heffner.

Wakengun was kind enough to charter me out of Attawapiskat to accommodate my busy schedule. Good-bye Attawapiskat.

The flight was going great, until I noticed....
A fuel leak.

Fixed!!

The flight crew was telling me that sometimes when the fuel is filled to the top, the fuel cap sometimes pops due to the change of pressure.

Was I freaking out you ask? Beleieve it or not, nope. Like my father would say, if it's out of your control, there is no sense worrying about it. I know what you're thinking, but a fuel leak at 7000 feet? I know, I guess I didn't think it was a big deal. It's not like the fuel cap popped off and gas was spraying everywhere.

Thank you Wakenagun for a great week.

HONEY I'M COMING HOME!!!!

Youth Business Quest

For the 2nd year in a row I have been asked to facilitate a introduction to business workshop with Wakenagun Community Futures Development Corporation. http://www.wakenagun.ca/

Rather than being too heavy on business, I wanted to create a interactive seminar that is not only business but also personal awareness.

Seminar 1 - Timmins, ON

The size of the group was nice and cozy, which made for a highly interactive seminar with lots of laughter and sharing of ideas. We had young people from Wahgoshig attend. They are currently engaged in the True Colours section of the workshop.
By the way, I'm pointing for a dramatic picture effect.
Seminar 2 - Moose Factory

This was awesome, we had 16 participants. It was so great, I forgot to take pictures. The participants were into the program, we spent alot of time presenting business ideas. I'm from Moose Factory, so I had alot of expectations on the youth. I was so happy that they not only met my expectations, they exceeded them.

Seminar 3 - Kashechewan

It started off really slow.

Then the youth poured in, thanks to 3 young ladies from grade 6 and Introduction to Business class from the highschool.
Since there some building issues with the elementary school, the highschool is playing double duty. The younger ones have it during the day and the highschool students start school at 3pm and go until 9pm. The kids don't mind it, since they get to sleep in everyday but the teachers find it tiring working a night shift.
Here is Ariel working on her opening soon business poster.
3 brothers working on their ideas.

Mr. Reuben checking up on Desta's Poster.

Started off a little slow, but it turned out to be a great day. Way to go KASH youth.

Adventures of Brothers Wesley

Bright and early this morning when the world was sleeping my brother Curtis and I ventured north on the winter road from Moosonee to Attawapiskat. We drove 83 kms to Halfway point, when we experienced something that we have never seen before.

Here is the winter road at about 7:30 this morning.

We saw a bunch of foxes, and although the are rabid beasts they are so cute. They are quite tame, they will walk close to your vehicle waiting for a treat. The pelts are not worth much in todays market, about $40 according to Curt, so people leave them alone and fatten them up for when they are worth a little bit more.

I was so impressed to see this sight, a little stunned actually. A trail was cut through the bush from the winter road all the way to the shores of James Bay. I have seen the bay before, but never from the vantage point of a vehicle.
Then we saw some animal tracks and our cree instincts kicked in. HARD!
Here is my brother Curt praticing his traditional rights. If you look closely, you will notice a partridge in the tree.
It's been such a long time since I have gone hunting, so it was nice to get a couple.
Then we plucked them.
Now I'm just waiting for the best part, dinner.

Thank you Curt for letting me tag along.
